AWS Strands Agents

“AI Agents are not the future — they’re already reshaping how we build in the cloud.”

That was my main takeaway from the AWS Experience Iberia session “Building AI Agents with Serverless, Strands, and MCP” last month.

We’ve moved from experimenting with GenAI prompts to building production-ready agentic systems that reason, plan, and take action — securely and at scale.

During the session, the AWS team demonstrated how Serverless architectures, Amazon Bedrock, and Strands Agents SDK come together to make AI agents not only intelligent, but operationally efficient. Here are a few standout ideas that resonated with me:

• ✅ Agentic AI is modular — agents can reason, use tools, and interact through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and implement it through Strand Agents SDK.
• ✅ Serverless unlocks scalability — deploying agents on Lambda, ECS, or EKS means focusing on logic, not servers.
• ✅ Observability and governance still matter — with CloudWatch, X-Ray, GuardDuty, and IAM integrated from the start.
• ✅ Context is everything — “Great context leads to great answers.”

It’s fascinating to see how AWS is defining the blueprint for scalable, secure, and interoperable AI systems.
